European Campaign for Gaza Condemns Israeli Occupation Forces' Seizure of the "Madeleine" Ship
And Calls for the Immediate Release of the Activists
June 9, 2025
The European Campaign for Gaza strongly condemns the Israeli occupation forces' seizure of the "Madeleine" ship, which was en route to the Gaza Strip on a humanitarian mission to break the blockade imposed on more than two million people.
The attack on a civilian ship in international waters is a flagrant violation of international law and an attack on peaceful activists of European nationalities who were on a purely humanitarian mission.
We, at the European Campaign for Gaza, express our full solidarity with the ship's crew and all the brave activists participating in this peaceful initiative, whose primary motivation was to end the inhumane and ongoing blockade of the Gaza Strip and deliver a message of support to its besieged people.
We hold the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for the safety of the detained activists. We call on the international community, including the United Nations and the European Union, to take urgent action to ensure their protection, their immediate and unconditional release, and an end to repeated Israeli violations against humanitarian initiatives.
We also renew our call to lift the unjust blockade on the Gaza Strip and enable Palestinians to exercise their basic human rights. We emphasize that breaking the blockade is a humanitarian and moral duty that will not stop with the confiscation of a ship or the silencing of a free voice.
