The European Campaign for Gaza is following with great concern the moving scenes that accompanied the return of thousands of Palestinian families to the northern Gaza Strip, after the massive destruction caused by the recent aggression. Despite the depth of the pain and the scale of the humanitarian tragedy, the return of the people to their land represents a symbol of steadfastness and a clear challenge to all attempts at forced displacement, which aim to uproot the Palestinian people from their land.

In light of these harsh humanitarian conditions, the European Campaign for Gaza is launching an urgent appeal to the international community, humanitarian, relief and human rights organizations:

The necessity of providing immediate assistance to the families returning to the northern Gaza Strip, who lost their homes and sources of livelihood, and ensuring the provision of basic needs.

Delivering urgent humanitarian aid in the form of tents and caravans to shelter the displaced families, in addition to food, water and urgent medical care.

International pressure to lift the unjust siege on the Gaza Strip, which exacerbates the humanitarian situation and prevents reconstruction, in flagrant violation of all international conventions and norms.

International action to hold the occupation accountable for its ongoing crimes against innocent civilians, and to work to end the injustice suffered by the Palestinian people.

The European Campaign for Gaza stresses that the humanitarian crisis in the Strip is not just a passing disaster, but rather the result of systematic policies pursued by the occupation authorities, aimed at keeping the Palestinians in a state of permanent weakness.

Accordingly, the responsibility of the international community is not only to provide aid, but to end the root causes of this tragedy.
