The case of Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, a Palestinian doctor who was arrested during a raid on Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza in December 2024. Human rights reports indicate that Dr. Abu Safia was severely beaten and subjected to degrading treatment by Israeli forces during the raid. Dr. Abu Safia remains in detention, along with dozens of doctors and paramedics who were taken from their work in Gaza hospitals to the Israeli Sde Teiman detention center and other locations. Worse still, some detainees have died under torture, such as Dr. Adnan al-Barsh, who died under torture in Israel's Ofer prison.
